As many of you know I have been a member of Team Northrup for 8 years now. Following and being involved with the work of Dr. Northrup and Kate Northrup has been life changing! It is so wonderful to hang out with happy healthy people. You do that and you become one! It is amazing how that works.

Part of my work with Team Northrup and our product partner Usana Health science has been the inspiration behind my blog. My intention is to empower and inspire women to be Fit and Fabulous…Aging Optional. I am here to pass on my own inspiration and what influences me.

Last week it was Boom Sticks by Cindy Joseph which I love and so does my Mom. This week, Dr. Northrup has come out with her new book. Goddesses Never Age. I just got it yesterday and can’t wait to dive right in.

Dr. Northrup's book

I am sharing Kate Northrup’s Glimpse TV with her Mom. Go make a cup of tea, come back and sit down and enjoy 20 minutes of Kate and Dr. Northrup.  See why Dr. Northrup says, never tell your age. We are all ageless. I am proud of my age but after watching,  I think now I am officially “ageless”! Tell me what you think, I would love to hear from you.

PS. I have the inside scoop on Dr. Northrup’s Ageless Goddess supplement pac. Contact me… I can set you up.

Homemade Crackers!

Watch out Ritz! This is what happens when you become a health coach…You make crackers!

My good friend Jessica Ruth Shepard HHC sent me the recipe. So easy and they were pretty good for the first time. A little thick but still delicious with a piece of goat cheese on top. I will roll them out a little more the next time. It was so homey to take out and use the rolling pin:)

Thomas and I had them for snack and supplement time. A perfect snack, grain free, low-glycemic and full of fiber. I used pumpkin seed and sunflower seed flour instead of almond flour. Throw your seeds or nuts into the vitamix and you create flour. Pretty amazing!

Here is the recipe from Jess.

Gluten-Free Thyme and Rosemary Crackers

Prep time: 10 minutes

Total time: 25 minutes
Makes about 20 crackers
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups blanched almond flour (occasionally it’s from almond’s I’ve sprouted and blanched myself….and sometimes not  : )
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax seed (i usually grind mine fresh)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary + 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 egg (preferably free-range + local and/or organic)
  • 2 teaspoons purified water
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350. In a small bowl, lightly whisk the oil, egg and water to combine. In a larger bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients into a uniform dry mixture.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir well to combine. Once the dough comes together, use your clean hands to mix well and ensure a uniform mixture.
Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll out to 1/8 inch thickness. Peel off the top sheet of parchment paper and place the bottom sheet with dough onto baking sheet.
Cut into 2-inch squares and bake 12-15 minutes until lightly golden around the edges. Let cool at least 15 minutes before serving. Store in the refrigerator up to one week, or at room temperature up to two days.
(Extra notes):
if you live in a dry climate you will need the added water. If you’re in a more humid climate, you may not need to add the 2 teaspoons of water. Thin dough (1/8 inch) makes crispier crackers; thicker dough (1/4 inch) makes softer, more chewy crackers.
  • I used rosemary and thyme here, but two tablespoons of any combination of fresh finely chopped herbs can be used or even adding currants, cinnamon works well!!crackers

Your Entire Body Stays Strong!

I have modified my workouts in the past few months. I love being Fit and I am focused on what is the minimum I need to do and teach you to do to be Fit and Fabulous!

I have been following the work of Dr. Eric Goodman, Foundation Training. Here is one of the exercises he recommends integrating into your fitness program. Very effective, “Your Entire Body Stays Strong!”

Fit and Fabulous is all about OPTIMAL HEALTH. Eat well, take the best supplements and get out there and move. So much more coming in the New Year! So stay tuned:)

What do you do when cold and flu season hits?

This time of years there are all sorts of ads encouraging everyone to get a flu shot. What if everyone was encouraged to eat their fruits and vegetables, take a daily walk no matter what the weather is…this is why I have George the dog:) We are out everyday rain or shine.  Have you thought about getting to bed on time to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night? Have you given yourself permission to take an epsom salt bath?

Has anyone suggested you take the best supplements in my opinion on the planet every day twice a day? I am here to make that suggestion to you. I have been taking great supplements everyday twice a day for almost eight years now. I can’t remember the last time I had the flu. I must admit to an occasional cold but short lived.

Here is a quick video for your consideration.

A fat blasting strength program!

I am proud to say I have developed a high quality fitness program and it doesn’t take hours to get you fit! It takes 30 -45 minutes 2 to 3 days a week.

Here are the components

Warm-up: take a  5 – 10 minute walk or jog and perform a few functional movement exercises .

High Intensity Training : 8 minutes, 30 seconds on/ 30 seconds off. This morning we did BURPEES! Very effective and doable! You can jump rope, do mountain climbers, sprint, jumping jacks. etc. JUST GO HARD, ALL OUT FOR THOSE 30 SECONDS! You want to become breathless (anaerobic) , then you have 30 seconds to recover. Repeat 8 times.

Studies show that High Intensity training (I am happy to improve all of those points. How about you?)

  • Lowered  body fat
  • Improved muscle tone
  • Firmer skin and fewer wrinkles
  • Higher energy levels
  • Improved athletic speed and performance
  • Boosted sex drive

Strength Training: We usually do 3 sets of strength training in 30 second intervals, Push-ups, DB Rows, Lunges, Squats, Tricep Extension etc.

Core Training: This is the long and lean portion of my program. So effective! Your body has 29 core muscles located mostly in your back, abdomen, and pelvis. This group of muscles provides the foundation for movement throughout your body.  It is so important to keep these muscles strong to support your back and improve your balance. I love Foundation Training, created by Dr. Eric Goodman.  This training  strengthens and stretches your muscles…very time efficient!  Love it!

It is also so important to take the best supplements that you can. Take care of your self.

A quick effective intense workout! Love Burpees!

A quick effective intense workout!

I feel longer and leaner!

Last spring, I hurt my back actually my Sacroiliac joint. I didn’t do anything except overused the area. I had pain and kept pushing through. Can you relate to that? Of course, I started to think oh I am too old to be doing my workouts. A person my age shouldn’t be jumping around, doing burpees, sprinting…blah, blah, blah.

I went to the chiropractor had a month of physical therapy, took ibuprofen, a few muscle relaxants. I began to feel better but I still had lingering numbness around my left knee. Do I need to accept this numbness?

I started going to yoga again and kept up with my massages. I was better but still had the numbness around my knee.

I came across the work of Dr. Eric Goodman and Foundation training. I have been doing his workouts for a few weeks now and I feel so much better! I wake up feeling LONGER  AND LEANER! It is so empowering! Of course I have incorporated the training into my 7AM work outs.

I started my new class in September. It is now a 45 minute class. I love it! I have short intense effective workouts. This morning we jumped rope for 8 minutes, 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. My ladies are great, jump with 2 feet fast with no pitter patter, very impressive. We did 2 rounds of weight training and then finished up with Foundation Training. Everyone goes home feeling LONGER ,LEANER and EMPOWERED!

I have also  strongly encouraged my ladies to take the best quality supplement like I do. You get amazing results, when you eat a low-glycemic diet, exercises and take your supplements! THAT IS HOW YOU BECOME FIT AND FABULOUS!!!

  FIT AND FABULOUS

FIT AND FABULOUS

I thought I would be done by now!

Have you ever set a goal and didn’t achieve it in the time you thought? Of course! We have all done that. I actually don’t enjoy setting goals because of that reason. I continue to set them anyway.

In July, I posted I was in the process of weaning off my bio-identical hormones. I tried.  I was hoping to be off by my September birthday…didn’t make it. The afternoon that I posted

Do everything you can to bring pleasure into your life right now!!!❤️

I went back on my bio-identical. I slept well that night. Everything is a process.

Dr. Christiane Northrup just wrote a wonderful article, Traditional Herbs or Bio-identical Which is better?

I am SO grateful for the post. “My position  on this particular issue is the same as it has always been. Use the modality that works for you. And that could be traditional herbs or bioidentical hormones! Though different, both are good choices.”

This is my life and I want to FEEL MY BEST!

Optimal Health is a Process…

  • I have cut my coffee in half because it was affecting my sleep. I didn’t eliminate it because I love and enjoy one delicious organic cup in the morning.
  • I have added a green smoothie to my day.
  • I walk George the dog in the morning without my glasses to absorb nutrients and sunshine through my eyes.
  • I eat a low-glycemic diet with tons of vegetables.
  • I take the best supplements on the planet.
  • I choose happiness over crankiness.
Eat a ton of vegetables!

Eat a ton of vegetables!

I am a work in progress. What do you do to feel your best? I would love to hear!
