The Perfect Christmas Gift.

Do you reflect at the end of the year? Do you take time to think about what you accomplished in the past year? Do you set intentions for the New Year? I do kinda sort of…I hang out with people who take all of this very seriously. My intention is to take time to meditate and journal. I have bought so many journals and start but I don’t follow through.

I am part of a very special group and we talked quickly about what our “word” might be for 2015. I am thinking abundance, prosperity.Who doesn’t want that?  What I really want is to be inspired and creative and inspire others to do the same.  How do I make that happen? Meditating and journaling, being grateful for all the good that comes my way and taking some downtime to see what comes up. The other key component for me to remember and embrace is that everything is in divine order. I am working on giving up the chaos, control and letting God take the lead. It feels so much better when I remember that!

Christmas morning, I opened a very special present from a good friend. “A GOD BOX” On the box, it says Open for new ideas, Trust God, Life is unfolding in perfect order. WOW, it made me cry and gave me goose bumps all at the same time.

I know great things will be coming in the New Year for me and for you.

Do you set intentions for the New Year? Anything you would like to share? I would love to hear from you.

Love,

Mary

A fat blasting strength program!

I am proud to say I have developed a high quality fitness program and it doesn’t take hours to get you fit! It takes 30 -45 minutes 2 to 3 days a week.

Here are the components

Warm-up: take a  5 – 10 minute walk or jog and perform a few functional movement exercises .

High Intensity Training : 8 minutes, 30 seconds on/ 30 seconds off. This morning we did BURPEES! Very effective and doable! You can jump rope, do mountain climbers, sprint, jumping jacks. etc. JUST GO HARD, ALL OUT FOR THOSE 30 SECONDS! You want to become breathless (anaerobic) , then you have 30 seconds to recover. Repeat 8 times.

Studies show that High Intensity training (I am happy to improve all of those points. How about you?)

  • Lowered  body fat
  • Improved muscle tone
  • Firmer skin and fewer wrinkles
  • Higher energy levels
  • Improved athletic speed and performance
  • Boosted sex drive

Strength Training: We usually do 3 sets of strength training in 30 second intervals, Push-ups, DB Rows, Lunges, Squats, Tricep Extension etc.

Core Training: This is the long and lean portion of my program. So effective! Your body has 29 core muscles located mostly in your back, abdomen, and pelvis. This group of muscles provides the foundation for movement throughout your body.  It is so important to keep these muscles strong to support your back and improve your balance. I love Foundation Training, created by Dr. Eric Goodman.  This training  strengthens and stretches your muscles…very time efficient!  Love it!

It is also so important to take the best supplements that you can. Take care of your self.

Holiday Nutrition Challenge starting soon. YOU CAN’T EXERCISE YOUR WAY OUT OF A BAD DIET!)

A quick effective intense workout! Love Burpees!

A quick effective intense workout!

I feel longer and leaner!

Last spring, I hurt my back actually my Sacroiliac joint. I didn’t do anything except overused the area. I had pain and kept pushing through. Can you relate to that? Of course, I started to think oh I am too old to be doing my workouts. A person my age shouldn’t be jumping around, doing burpees, sprinting…blah, blah, blah.

I went to the chiropractor had a month of physical therapy, took ibuprofen, a few muscle relaxants. I began to feel better but I still had lingering numbness around my left knee. Do I need to accept this numbness?

I started going to yoga again and kept up with my massages. I was better but still had the numbness around my knee.

I came across the work of Dr. Eric Goodman and Foundation training. I have been doing his workouts for a few weeks now and I feel so much better! I wake up feeling LONGER  AND LEANER! It is so empowering! Of course I have incorporated the training into my 7AM work outs.

I started my new class in September. It is now a 45 minute class. I love it! I have short intense effective workouts. This morning we jumped rope for 8 minutes, 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. My ladies are great, jump with 2 feet fast with no pitter patter, very impressive. We did 2 rounds of weight training and then finished up with Foundation Training. Everyone goes home feeling LONGER ,LEANER and EMPOWERED!

I have also  strongly encouraged my ladies to take the best quality supplement like I do. You get amazing results, when you eat a low-glycemic diet, exercises and take your supplements! THAT IS HOW YOU BECOME FIT AND FABULOUS!!!

  FIT AND FABULOUS

FIT AND FABULOUS

I thought I would be done by now!

Have you ever set a goal and didn’t achieve it in the time you thought? Of course! We have all done that. I actually don’t enjoy setting goals because of that reason. I continue to set them anyway.

In July, I posted I was in the process of weaning off my bio-identical hormones. I tried.  I was hoping to be off by my September birthday…didn’t make it. The afternoon that I posted

Do everything you can to bring pleasure into your life right now!!!❤️

I went back on my bio-identical. I slept well that night. Everything is a process.

Dr. Christiane Northrup just wrote a wonderful article, Traditional Herbs or Bio-identical Which is better?

I am SO grateful for the post. “My position  on this particular issue is the same as it has always been. Use the modality that works for you. And that could be traditional herbs or bioidentical hormones! Though different, both are good choices.”

This is my life and I want to FEEL MY BEST!

Optimal Health is a Process…

  • I have cut my coffee in half because it was affecting my sleep. I didn’t eliminate it because I love and enjoy one delicious organic cup in the morning.
  • I have added a green smoothie to my day.
  • I walk George the dog in the morning without my glasses to absorb nutrients and sunshine through my eyes.
  • I eat a low-glycemic diet with tons of vegetables.
  • I take the best supplements on the planet.
  • I choose happiness over crankiness.
Eat a ton of vegetables!

Eat a ton of vegetables!

I am a work in progress. What do you do to feel your best? I would love to hear!

Rethinking Retirement!

This blog post has been in my draft file for a few months. I thought this week would be the perfect time to post it. The old is falling away and it is time to look at life in a new way.

I was on my monthly Team Northrup telegathering this week. It is an international call with Dr. Christiane Northrup, her daughter Kate and her sister Penny. It was an interesting talk about retirement . We are all living longer than the retirement age of 65 and why not continue on and do what you love. I got involved with Team Northrup because I am interested in building residual income  by helping myself and inspiring  others to be healthy. It is very important to have a subculture that supports and I have found this with Team Northrup.

I wanted to share this with My OutdoorFit ladies. You are a subculture of phenomenal ladies who aren’t afraid of doing something just a little different from your peers in almost any kind of weather. I wanted to Thank you for that!  I was listening to the call when Dr. Northrup starts talking about Mary. (ME!!!) A woman who is in her “inner circle” and one of her leaders in Team Northrup. Here is the recording of the Telegathering…Rethinking Retirement. I am at minute 11:23!

Click here to access the recording.

I like to listen while ironing:)

Thank you for allowing me to share.

Love,

Mary

Why not continue on doing what you love and make money until the day you die? Instead of wondering whether you are going to run out of money before you die? What do you love to do?

10 minute circuit training

I have been working on creating a new program with the minimal amount of exercise to feel good and stay in shape. When I was in Vermont, I would do a more challenging workout one day and back to the core workout the next day.

This is a challenging workout. Give it a try and let me know how you did.

Love,

Mary

Do you need a recovery workout?

I woke up feeling a bit stiff and sore. My hips are tight.  It is always good to move, you just don’t want to over do. I decided to walk a mile and do a low-key workout on the dock. We were filming on a windy day so please excuse the excess wind noise. It is all part of the charm:)

I have been enjoying the shorter workouts! They are very effective. It is so important to listen to your body. Today would have been a perfect yoga day. Honestly, I would rather be moving around on the dock.

Here is another fun short workout! ( It is almost always nice to have my pal George the dog along with me. He has started to grow on me. It has taken 3 1/2 years. I think I have survived the puppy years!)

30 seconds each

Total Body Extension

Push-ups

Squat 20/10 (watch video for instructions)

Jumping Jacks

Spiderman Climb

Bicycle

Jump start your morning walk!

We are streamlining OutdoorFit into 2 amazing workouts a week during the summer months. Wednesdays and Fridays 7:30 AM.

I have been working on what I need to do to keep in shape without doing too much. I want my body to be strong, vibrant and healthy. I don’t want to deal with overuse issues.

Yesterday morning, I dropped Thomas off at Dorbrook park for camp. Dorbrook has a beautiful 2 mile trail that George the dog and I like to walk. I decided to up my walk with a run/walk. I run until my body feels like I have had enough and then I walk. This is something new for me. I was a competitive runner and I know how to train hard. I am learning how to pay attention to my body. Long Runs no longer serve me. I am writing that out so hopefully I am listening!

My morning run/walk also included a 9 minute strength, cardio full body workout. Yes, only 9 minutes! I stopped at a picnic bench on the trail for George to lay down  in the shade.

Here is my workout:

30 second rounds.

Total Body Extensions

Push-ups

Squats

Jumping Jacks

Knee to elbow

Alt. reverse lunge

Rest one minute and complete 2 more rounds.

BONUS ROUND…after final set 10 burpees just to make it a great day!

I did a total of 45 push-ups, 45 squats etc. within the 9 minute workout! You can achieve a lot in a short period of time. Try it!

George the dog and I completed the 2 mile trail with a run/walk. People do like to stop us because George is so handsome.

Optimal Health= A low-glycemic diet, exercise and high quality supplements!
