Consignment Shopping

I had my first consignment shopping experience last week. I don’t buy many clothes in general. I have been resistant to consignment shopping because I didn’t want to be wearing someone else clothes. What if that person was cranky or nasty? Bad karma.

I read a blog post of Sarah Jane Adams who found a beautiful piece of jewelry in a pocket of a jacket that she bought at a consignment shop. She felt it was meant to be given to her by a wonderful person. I decided I was looking at this all wrong.I also like the idea of recycling.

My very good friend and clothing architect Wendy Cettina came with me to Greene Street in Red Bank NJ. Wendy is my image and fashion consultant and I couldn’t have done it without her. She shops like a pro. She goes through the racks quickly and picks out what she thinks will work. Wendy gives excellent honest feedback.

I bought this great cotton sweater jacket. I felt so put together today. I will post about my New favorite pants soon:) Thank goodness, Fitness is my fashion statement!

My Pants Fit!

It is a rainy Friday September morning. I went into my closet and tried on a pair of jeans that I almost gave away last year because they were getting so tight especially around the middle! Is that an issue for you? It doesn’t have to be.

A 68 year old Track Cyclist!

We were at the USA Cycling Master’s Track National Championships in Indianapolis this summer. Women are in the minority. Obviously, in the Fit and Fabulous…Aging Optional category!

I reached out to Jo Johnson. Jo is a Multi time National Champion! She is 68 and began cycling in her early 50’s! She loves track racing. “Riding on banked tracks on a bike with NO Brakes is the thrill of track.” She takes her cycling very seriously and works with Coach Kim Geist. Jo has continued to improve each year and just LOVES IT! This year she has set new PR’s in all track events. Quite an accomplishment.

The Summer of Planting Trees!

strong healthy back

This summer has been the summer of Tree planting. Finding the perfect spot, digging holes and planting the trees  is hard work. BIG NEWS~ I planted four trees this summer and no back pain!

As many of you know I have incorporated Foundation Training into my life and into my Fit and Fabulous Workouts. Something pretty incredible has happened because of this training. STRONG HEALTHY BACK!

My back is very strong even after years of running, jumping, mountain climbers and burpees.

I have been asked my age by my doctor and then was told that maybe I need to stop and take up a low impact exercise like swimming.  I found a better way.  Foundation Training. It only takes a few minutes a day.

BONUS ROUND!

I have worn orthotics for years and always wore shoes with support, even inside my house. Now, I can go barefoot with No BACK PAIN!  Thrilling!

It is not just about exercise, It is embracing a healthy lifestyle. Eating a low-glycemic diet, pharmaceutical grade supplements and exercise.

I am launching a New 28 Fit and Fabulous…Aging Optional Program.

Are you ready to be Strong, Healthy, Fit and Fabulous?

It is possible at any age!

Oh, my aching back!

A Very Powerful Movement.

A Very Powerful Movement.

Do you have reoccurring back issues? Have you bent over to pick up something and your back was in excruciating pain? I have!

Over the years, I have seen Doctors, Chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapist and acupuncturists. I would go swimming. I would do yoga. I would take powerful muscle relaxants. Ice, heat…I did it all. I still would have reoccurring back problems.

Two years ago, I discovered Foundation Training which is the work of Dr. Eric Goodman. I integrate Foundation Training into everyone of one my workouts. My back is stronger and I am more flexible! I am not in pain. When I do too much and I feel the tightness creeping back, I spend ten minutes doing Foundation Training. SO much better… It works!

From one of my workout ladies,”I moved 8 yards of mulch yesterday and my back did not hurt. Your workouts are working!”

I would love for all of you to come to my workouts. I promise you , your back will become stronger and perhaps pain free.

Here is the link to a Foundation Training workout if you can’t make it to Fair Haven Fields with me.

 FIT AND FABULOUS…AGING OPTIONAL!

IT IS POSSIBLE FOR YOU TOO!

Butter in my coffee:)

I am trying something new. Have you heard of intermittent fasting? How about putting butter in your coffee?

I am getting up at 6 am and making an organic cup of french roast coffee in my french press pot and adding a TBS of my delicious ghee. I made ghee from the unsalted Kerry Gold Irish butter the last time. SO CREAMY AND DELICIOUS! I enjoy the coffee and walk George the dog a mile. I am getting some exercise without eating.

After taking Thomas to his program at 9 am, I come home and have breakfast. I haven’t eaten for 14 hours. It is a completely different thought process of having breakfast first thing in the morning. I know many wait until later but for now I am hungry at 9 and I feel like I better eat something!

This was my breakfast this morning. An organic granny smith apple, organic cottage cheese , almond butter and sprinkled with cinnamon.

Grain Free and delicious!

From my friend and mentor Penny Northrup Kirk…”Hooray! And a big YES to FAT!” A tweetable:)

Warm up

Flexibility is so important for our health and well being! I am focused on height and not shrinking with age. Here is a 7 minute warm up that I have incorporated into my workouts. So important to be flexible and feeling fabulous! Give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

Are you local? Spring is a perfect time to start a fitness program.! Change things up…a new beginning! Here is the schedule to my workouts. Let me know ahead of time if you are coming. (Sometimes the schedule changes.)

Here goes… this might not seem like a big deal but for me I am sorry to say it is.

I have taken a break from my blog. I wasn’t inspired to do anything. Now, I have something to blog about it.

Here goes… this might not seem like a big deal but for me I am sorry to say it is.

I gave up drinking my daily glass of wine on the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice is all about “letting go” so you can make space for the NEW. Sunday, December 20th, my husband and I were at a pizza party. I had two slices of pizza and a glass of chardonnay. When we got home I had a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It doesn’t sound over the top but the next day I woke up feeling terrible like I was hung over. Here I am a trainer and a health coach, I don’t expect myself to be perfect but I want to be better. I decided to give up wine, alcohol for 90 days. ( I don’t want you to think I am going to start drinking martinis…I included alcohol.)  Basically, I enjoy a glass of wine daily. If I don’t have it, I feel agitated and cranky.

I wanted to mark the day, and you know it was December 21st, the winter solstice. The perfect day. Later that day, I read a quote by Christiane Northrup. “Just stay connected to Divine Love. And watch what happens.”

I didn’t blog about it earlier because I wasn’t sure I would stick to it. Usually, three days in I find a reason to sabotage myself and start drinking again. I am now 9 days in. It still is not easy and I think about it way too much. I am doing it, I am sleeping better, feeling better and I am making better choices. I know it will become easier.

I don’t intend to give up wine forever. My intention is to treat it like cake. I will have a glass to celebrate special occasions.

A Healthy Alternative.

A Fabulous Cocktail!
